Recently one of my teachers emailed our group about centering her home. I was intrigued with the idea and decided to experiment on my house. The idea as far as I understood it to be, was that homes have several different centers. You have the physical center of the house. Then there is the heart center of the house usually where people gather to talk. Then there is the energetic center of the home. For me, the energetic center of my home is the center point of the different solsticial quadrilaterals that I have installed around my home. I bet you are wondering what the heck is a solsticial quadrilateral? I can’t even say that much less understand it! Well, solsticial quadrilaterals are the pattern of the sun’s path throughout the year at a certain location. For example, I was born in Plattsburgh NY. The sun’s position in the sky and the pattern if we were to draw it out on the land would be a specific rectangle. The corners of the rectangle coincide with the position of summer solstice sunrise and sunset and the winter solstice sunrise and sunset. It is different for different points on the earth. The ancient people would mark the sun’s path on the ground throughout the year and use the resulting rectangle (quadrilateral) in their design and building of their sacred sites as well as their homes. Nowadays we use the latitude and plug it into a mathematical formula to come up with the same rectangle that our ancestors took years to map. Since I like playing with energy, I marked the solsticial quadrilaterals of everyone’s birthplace that lives at my house. Now what this does is harmonize my home as well as put everyone into the energy of their birth latitude, which feels very nice by the way!
So back to centering my home, what you need to do is energetically connect all the different centers together in one point and put a nice “something” to mark the spot. My home’s different center positions were all over the place and in very inconvenient places to place my centering object. So I decided to pick a place that made sense to me and energetically center our home. I used a nice crystal bowl full of some of my favorite stones and then placed a lingam on top of them to mark the new center. I did a nice meditation bringing the different centers together and it was done.
So, what happened next you may wonder? Well, our home is a very busy place. It has a 5 vibration from a numerology standpoint which means there is always a lot of action going on. As our house centered itself, we became more centered in ourselves. There still is lots going on, but I feel more present and centered thanks to this simple experiment.

Aligning homes makes such a difference in our daily lives. A harmonized home is a place of refuge and renewal. I share with you here the story of aligning my own home. I decided to buy my little home within a few minutes. The great elm tree towering over it had an inviting energy and the land felt good and renewing. First impressions are always best, I think – good to notice before we try to second guess our intuition. Next I walked the land and found it largely neutral except for one subterranean water line that ran along the wall just inside my soon-to-be bedroom. Once I moved in I noticed I was not spending much time in the bedroom even though I was not sleeping on the water line. I realized that I really needed to harmonize that line. Once done I found myself spending more time in the bedroom in meditation, reading and just enjoying the space. That seemed good enough for awhile, but I realize it would be best for the long run to fully harmonize my new place.
Latitude with Attitude colleagues, Karen Jarldane, Cat Daily, Gaela Morrison and I set about mapping the place. Following our analysis I chose the solsticial quadrilateral, a pattern that marks the annual movement of the sun in this latitude and is a very stable form of harmonization, for my place. I sought out stones of around 200 pounds and Jim Shugart helped me set them in the exact proportional shape around my home. I loved the look of the granitic stones I had chosen, they look a bit like cosmic eggs about to hatch. With dowsing rods we could read the level of the newly harmonized space created following the placement of the stones. It felt nice! The real surprise and learning, however, occurred that night. As I lay in bed half sleeping, half streaming-dreaming I could feel the energy of the land within the solsticial quadrilateral that surrounded me shifting in a dramatic way. I had not experienced something quite like this before. I woke up feeling that I had been inside an acupuncture or cranio-sacral treatment all night. Wow. The best words I can find to describe it are these: – setting up a harmonized space around one’s dwelling place is like living within an acupuncture or other aligning treatment because it creates an on-going charged and balanced healing zone in which to live. I would never live anywhere now without doing this basic work of alignment with the land, the sky (by way of the latitude) and life around me.

I moved into my home sight unseen. I was a mother of 2 young boys. My husband scouted out and bought our home and the first time I ever saw it was driving up to it to move in! My husband did a marvelous job buying our home, the only problem that I had was it was too close to the high wire lines. Ugh. My husband didn’t even notice them when he bought our place. So my house became a teacher for me. I tried Feng Shui and space clearing to help shift the energy of those wires. Space clearing and Feng shui added to our overall health, but it wasn’t enough. Next I took classes including Earth Acupuncture and Devic healing for the land. This time I worked with the Devas (to some people Devas are angels) to clear the land of electricity and shift the energy into something positive and health enhancing. This shifted the energy of the land, cleansed it in a powerful way, but still the electricity contamination was still there. Then I received an email about a Druid Geomancer and I went to take his class in Santa Fe. Wow! I found my teacher! His techniques were based on the Megalithic, Celtic, and Roman traditions of Master Builders. Over the years as I learned from Dominique Susani, I made changes to our house. I put Triskels in the ground to change the information of the water lines and fault lines that flow under our house. This calmed and changed the buzzy energy of the electricity flowing through the water lines and faults. We relaxed a bit more in our home. I continued shifting the energy of our home by installing a Solsticial Quadrilateral around our home. This is 4 stones placed in a rectangle around our home. The shape relates to the rhythm of the sun over a year. It places our home in harmony with the seasons, the sun, and the land. This was an amazing shift for us. When a Solsticial Quadrilateral is placed around a home it also pushes down the energy of the faults and water lines. Now our home radiates calm and nurturing energy. We feel like we have an ally in our home, instead of feeling on edge.

Blessings for this new year of change! Change was the buzz work for our election and now that 2009 has begun, transformation is hitting on so many levels. So how do you weather the storm? How do you feel safe, nurtured, protected against the uncertainty of our present. For me one thing that comforts me is feeling my home is a refuge from all craziness going on “outside”. How did I do this? Well I’m glad you asked! One way that I shifted the energy in our house was to dowse for the naturally occurring water lines and faults than lie below the ground. These lines when we sleep over them or sit over them for long periods of time are very stressful to our bodies and contribute to sleepless nights and other health issues. Something as easy as moving the bed can change your life! One service we provide to our clients is dowsing their entire house to see where the best place is to sleep at night, where the best place to sit at your desk is or to watch TV. It is a simple solution to help your home be a place of nurturing and comfort.
